Synopsis

After humanity achieves galactic dominance, dwindling cosmic resources trigger a mass return of roughly 500 billion people to Earth and ignite conflict among human factions battling for planetary control. An authoritarian regime called the Gaia Sanction rises and forbids Earth’s repopulation. Captain Herlock, once a commander in the Elite Wing assigned by the Gaia Sanction to protect Earth, led an apparently unstoppable fleet. When the regime permits a diplomatic elite to settle on Earth, Herlock rebels, attacking those diplomats and his own forces. He deploys dark matter to render the planet uninhabitable and becomes consumed by it, an event that halts his mortality. A century later, Herlock endures as a living legend commanding only the starship Arcadia, while the Gaia Sanction persists in pursuing control and conceals the planet’s true condition. Herlock is preparing a decisive confrontation with the regime that will determine Earth’s future.
