Synopsis

A major contest is imminent in Tokyo: the Shaman Fight, a recurring tournament every five hundred years where individuals who can summon and direct spirits duel one another. The winner is crowned Shaman King and gains exclusive contact with the Great Spirit, whose vast power grants the ability to alter the world. One night, Manta Oyamada encounters his classmate You Asakura, who invites him to join friends for stargazing—friends who turn out to be cemetery spirits. Manta’s uncommon ability to perceive such apparitions makes him valuable to You. When You learns Manta was assaulted by a local gang, he retaliates aided by Amidamaru, the samurai spirit whose grave was desecrated by the gang’s leader. Through these events, Manta is drawn deeper into the realm of spirits and into the tournament that You seeks to win.
