Synopsis

Shinsuke Hyoudou, an aspiring samurai, has his life altered after witnessing hermit Jinka Yamato and a fox-like katawara named Tama Youko swiftly destroy a bandit hideout. Tama, a member of a magically endowed race, can transfer her abilities to Jinka via a unique ritual, and the two roam as vigilantes confronting dangerous beings—whether human or katawara. As Shinsuke becomes acquainted with this hidden side of the world, he uncovers brutal research carried out by certain monks who subject spiritually gifted civilians to cruel experiments aimed at producing human-katawara hybrids for use against monsters. The group rescues Shakuyaku, a girl who survived those experiments, and together with other companions they set out on a journey to stop atrocities and to pursue each member’s personal aspirations.
