Synopsis

A violent clash between Jinka Yamato and Yazen overturns the balance between humans and the magically endowed katawara. The collapse of the dangaishu—monks who hunted katawara under Yazen’s command—sparks reports nationwide and prompts splintered katawara factions to emerge, deepening distrust and instability between the two groups. Shinsuke Hyoudou, shaken and doubting his own strength, seeks refuge in drink alongside Senya, a former foe who harbors a thousand katawara within him. In the wake of a rampage by a local deity, Tsukiko’s father is killed as an indirect consequence of Senya’s presence. Tsukiko, however, bears no resentment toward Senya and resolves to train under Shinsuke. Though he refuses to formally teach her swordsmanship, Shinsuke permits Tsukiko to accompany him and Senya on their travels. As the three move toward their next destination, Tama Youko persists in tracking Jinka, the nine-tailed fox whose power threatens global destruction.
