Synopsis

A mysterious masked figure, clad in white tights, a white-and-red cape, scarf, yellow gloves and boots, dark glasses, face cloth and an Indian-style turban topped with a moon ornament, confronts wrongdoing using a whip, two six-shooters, shuriken, moon-shaped boomerangs and a motorcycle. The Moonlight Mask persona is publicly anonymous, credited enigmatically as “?” in the original series. Unbeknownst to most characters, viewers suspect that detective Juurou Iwai—who often slips away from companions before the masked savior appears—may be the person behind the guise. Even Iwai’s comic aide Gorohachi Fukuro, his colleague Inspector Matsuda and the children Shigeru, Kaboko and Fujiko remain unaware of the possible connection.
