Synopsis

Sasaki, a 39-year-old office worker resigned to a quiet, uneventful existence, changes course after taking in a Java sparrow he calls Pii-chan. The bird reveals it is the reincarnation of a renowned magician from another realm and transfers part of its abilities to Sasaki, including a power that lets him cross between worlds. Sasaki uses this chance to profitably supply advanced technology to a less developed civilization on the other side. His situation shifts again when he uses his newfound talents to stop an attempted murder, only to discover the person he saved is Hoshizaki, a government agent charged with locating people who possess such gifts. Pressured into joining Hoshizaki’s covert organization, Sasaki undertakes perilous operations to apprehend other gifted individuals. He cannot simply remain hidden in the other world, where tensions are escalating toward war. Faced with threats on both fronts, Sasaki must assume unexpected responsibilities and act to preserve stability in both worlds.
