Synopsis

Saki Miyanaga, a first-year high school student shaped by difficult early experiences, avoids anything tied to mahjong and keeps a low profile when she must play. Persuaded by her friend Kyoutarou Suga to visit the school's mahjong club, she meets Nodoka Haramura, last year's national middle school champion, and clubmate Yuuki Kataoka. During casual matches, Saki tries to conceal her skill, but Hisa Takei, the club president, recognizes an unconventional technique and challenges Saki, revealing a level of ability beyond expectations. This discovery wounds Nodoka's sense of achievement, creating initial tension between the two. Saki joins the club, misunderstandings are resolved, and a tentative friendship develops. As she gradually accepts the game again, Saki and her teammates set a shared objective: to compete for and claim the national championship.
