Synopsis

After a demon boar assaults his Emishi settlement, young Prince Ashitaka is struck with a dying curse that grants him demonic power while draining his life. Sent west by his elders to find a remedy, he reaches Tatara, an industrial iron town led by Lady Eboshi. There, Ashitaka becomes entangled in a violent confrontation: Tatara’s expansion and relentless tree-felling provoke the forest’s spirits and Princess San, who defends the natural world. As conflict escalates between the human community and the woodland guardians, Ashitaka strives to mediate and pursue coexistence, all while contending with the corrupting force within his arm. The story explores the tension between technological progress and the living environment, and suggests a path toward reconciliation through mutual understanding.
