In a world inhabited by varied creatures with unique abilities and personalities, Doctor Yukinari Ookido studies and catalogs these beings. Recognizing the limits of his laboratory work, he gives two boys each a creature and a digital field guide to document them. One boy, Green, is bold, passionate, and somewhat arrogant, and happens to be Ookido's nephew. The other, Red, shares a strong enthusiasm and approaches the world with innocent wonder. Pokémon: The Origin centers on Red as he travels through the Kanto region attempting to complete his Pokédex by capturing and recording every species encountered. His journey requires testing his skills and those of his Pokémon at Gym challenges, progressing toward confronting the Elite Four and aiming for the title of Pokémon League Champion. Beyond the championship goal, Red must contend with trainers who use Pokémon for harmful purposes, including the notorious Team Rocket. Through battles with wild Pokémon, rival trainers, and criminal elements, Red confronts obstacles that push him to reconsider his ambitions and grow toward achieving both his own dream and the vision Ookido set in motion.
