Synopsis

On a morning in the Kanto region, Satoshi is invited by Professor Yukinari Ookido to attend Professor Sakuragi's lab inauguration in Vermilion City. During the ceremony, an alert reports a possibly rare Pokémon sighting at the city's harbor. Satoshi and other trainers hurry to the waterfront, where they discover the Legendary Pokémon Lugia engaged with several trainers. Observing the others' methods, Satoshi has his partner Pikachu use a Thunderbolt against Lugia. Lugia departs but Satoshi impulsively clings to its back and finds another boy, Gou, already aboard. Lugia carries them on an unusual voyage across the ocean, then sets them down; the two part ways with the Pokémon and return to the Sakuragi Institute. Impressed by Gou's observations and Satoshi's quick thinking during the encounter, Professor Sakuragi asks both boys to become his research collaborators. Their partnership marks the start of a journey through multiple regions, encountering many Pokémon, including ones capable of Gigantamax transformations.
