A rare Legendary capable of moving through time becomes the focus of a poacher bent on capturing it. A young trainer named Yukinari, who sketches Pokémon portraits, intervenes to shield the creature when it crosses his path; both then disappear during their escape. Decades later, an eager trainer, Satoshi, explores his local region in hopes of encountering uncommon Pokémon. He travels with White, a boat operator who brings him to a nearby village, and is joined by his close companions: Takeshi, a former gym leader pursuing expertise as a Pokémon breeder; Kasumi, an aspiring Water-type trainer; and Pikachu, Satoshi’s first partner. Yukinari and the time-traveling Legendary unexpectedly return to Satoshi’s era and encounter his group. They face a new threat in Masked Lord Vicious, Team Rocket’s most formidable executive, who seeks to seize the Legendary. Vicious employs the Dark Ball, a corrupted variant of the Monster Ball that distorts captured Pokémon and amplifies their strength, turning even gentle creatures into dangerous foes. Confronted with this crisis, Satoshi, Yukinari, and their allies must join forces to overcome Vicious and protect the Legendary and themselves.
