Synopsis

Patarillo! unfolds in a world much like our own but with a singular difference: its culture prominently features handsome young men and the romantic tensions surrounding them. The story centers on Marinera, a perpetually springlike island nation in the South Seas that exports diamonds from a major mine. That mine is owned by the boy-king Patarillo, whose small stature and striking physical attributes make him both ruler and target. A powerful, semi-criminal International Diamond Syndicate seeks control of Marinera’s diamond wealth and deploys beautiful male assassins to seize the mine and eliminate Patarillo. To protect the king, Britain assigns Major Jack Bancoran, an MI6 agent nicknamed the “Bishounen-Killer.” The epithet reflects Bancoran’s involuntary sexual fascination with males under seventeen, a compulsion he resents and which creates personal conflict—especially given his charge. The narrative shifts between Marinera, MI6 headquarters in London, and Bancoran’s grand suburban residence, and it occasionally ventures into past and future timelines and even space. Throughout, the series maintains a blend of political intrigue, personal complication, and a setting that juxtaposes tropical monarchy with international espionage.
