Synopsis

In the tranquil village of Asahigaoka, where a lone candy shop and a single bus link it to the outside world, local children spend their days roaming the nearby fields and woods. Among them is Renge Miyauchi, the youngest in her circle, who eagerly awaits the school entrance ceremony that will mark the start of her first-grade journey. She, along with middle-schoolers Natsumi Koshigaya and her older sister Komari, experience daily moments of play and learning rooted in the village’s slow pace. Into this setting arrives Hotaru Ichijou, a fifth grader who has relocated from Tokyo and has yet to discover the small but rich sequence of experiences that life in Asahigaoka will bring.
