Synopsis
Renowned conductor Franz von Stresemann dispatches his top pupils—Shinichi Chiaki, Megumi "Nodame" Noda, Ryuutarou Mine, and Masumi Okuyama—to the Nina Lutz Music Festival in Nagano for further study with distinguished teachers. While traveling by car, Chiaki grows annoyed by his companions' behavior, then dozes off and awakens to find they have stopped at a beach in Niigata. Mine soaks up the sun, Nodame and Masumi take a cooling swim, and Chiaki remains inside the beach club, concealing his dread of the ocean. When Nodame proposes renting an inflatable boat to cross to a nearby islet, the situation forces Chiaki to confront whether he can keep his secret hidden.
