Koyomi Araragi, recently recovering from an encounter with a vampire, becomes entangled with several girls affected by strange phenomena. One morning he awakens bound and held by his partner, Hitagi Senjougahara, who restrains him out of concern after a past swindler, Deishuu Kaiki, targeted her family and now threatens Araragi's younger sister, Karen. When a desperate message from Karen arrives, Araragi departs to free her. Meanwhile his other sister, Tsukihi, encounters her own unsettling problems. The arrival of two enigmatic women introduces motives Araragi did not foresee and sets into motion revelations about his family whose consequences prove devastating.
