Synopsis

Takashi Natsume, a young man capable of perceiving youkai since childhood, continues his efforts to return names recorded in the Book of Friends—an heirloom from his grandmother, Reiko. Accompanied by Madara, a powerful youkai who assumes the familiar form Nyanko-sensei and serves as Natsume's protector, he travels through his community encountering a range of supernatural beings. Some youkai approach him with kindness, others covet the Book, and some view him as a threat to be eliminated. Through these encounters, Natsume gradually gains insight into his own identity and the complex connections between humans and youkai, navigating secrecy, danger, and unexpected compassion along the way.
