Synopsis
At the second stage of the MFG series on Lake Ashinoko’s notoriously demanding circuit, competitors face extreme conditions as torrential rain reduces tire grip and complicates racing lines. Kanata Katagiri’s Toyota 86 GT lacks horsepower compared with rivals, but mechanical adjustments and his intensive preparation let him climb into a qualifying position. Raised in a harsh environment and tempered by rigorous training, Kanata exploits his familiarity with adverse conditions to advance through the field using aggressive, high-risk maneuvers. Ahead of him remain two strong opponents: Michael Beckenbauer, the winner of the previous event, and Kouki Sawatari, holder of the Lake Ashinoko lap record. Even if Kanata narrows the deficit to those leaders, he must also defend against following drivers ready to capitalize on any error amid the slippery, rain-soaked battle.
