Synopsis

An old tale claims consuming mermaid flesh grants everlasting life. Five centuries earlier, Yuta unknowingly ingested such flesh and has since wandered Japan in search of mermaids, believing they might restore his mortality. When he finally encounters a group of mermaids, he learns they have been raising a human girl to serve as food so they can consume her and maintain their youth. Yuta slays the mermaids and frees the girl, Mana, but discovers she has already eaten some mermaid flesh. Though forced to kill the mermaids, Yuta gains companionship after centuries of solitude: Mana, who, having been confined to a tiny hut her whole life, takes pleasure in simple experiences. Together, Yuta and Mana set out to find more mermaids in the hope of returning to ordinary human lives.
