Synopsis

Megalo Box features a specialized form of boxing where fighters use mechanical rigs known as Gear. After winning the inaugural Megalonia as the Gearless champion, Joe earned legendary status, but an exhibition loss to the next titleholder led him to disappear. Seven years on, he survives under the name Nomad, taking part in occasional illicit bouts while battling persistent hallucinations and relying on painkillers to dull his sensations. In one underground match he defeats Chief, a fighter who intentionally threw the bout for money; Joe then learns Chief belongs to the Casa, a displaced immigrant community struggling to secure the land they occupy. Chief is quietly trying to raise funds to buy the property and protect his people. Although initially reluctant to intervene, Joe ultimately chooses to assist the Casa, drawn into their struggle despite his damaged state.
