Synopsis

Mars has become a planet of oceans, with human populations living aboard vast floating cities. Resources are scarce: the economy falters, jobs are rare, and food is a costly necessity. Gram and his companions struggle to survive as legitimate work dwindles. In response to governmental corruption, some residents have turned to piracy; among them are the feared crew of the Ship of Aurora. The Earth-aligned authorities have sent a new squad of pilots operating specialized mecha called Round Bucklers to suppress these pirate forces and restore order to Mars’ seas. By chance, Gram ends up fleeing alongside the island’s most infamous pirates, and as he spends time with them he finds himself increasingly drawn to their way of life.
