Synopsis

In London during the early 1900s, Japanese exchange student Lili Ichijouin arrives to study at the respected Saint Thomas Art Academy with the goal of becoming a painter. Pressed by her parents' ultimatum to reach the top of her cohort within six months or return home, she pursues her training with determination. At the academy she meets Kit Church, an aristocratic peer whose exceptional skill and emotional reserve have marked him as a leading student. Kit is deeply committed to his art, and Lili’s earnestness and persistence gradually affect him. Though their connection is grounded mainly in their shared dedication to painting, their evolving relationship becomes a central element in the everyday life and dynamics of the academy.
