Synopsis

Mitsuki Kouyama lost contact with her friend Eichi Sakurai after he moved abroad two years earlier, leaving an unresolved longing she never confessed. Both made private vows to chase separate ambitions: Mitsuki aims to make a career as a singer, while Eichi plans to study the stars as an astronomer. Mitsuki hopes her music will one day touch him from across the world like the glow of a full moon. Her efforts are complicated by a diagnosis of throat cancer that weakens her voice and makes singing physically taxing. Her grandmother, who resents music, urges an operation to remove the illness, but Mitsuki resists because of the risk to her vocal ability. When two shinigami, Meroko Yui and Takuto Kira, reveal she has only a year left to live, Mitsuki is driven to act. With Meroko and Takuto's assistance, she resolves to realize her professional singing goal within the time she has. The narrative follows Mitsuki and her supernatural companions as they navigate the challenges of pursuing art, confronting mortality, and learning the deeper meaning of singing and living.
