Synopsis

Kong Hongjun, raised on Mount Taiheng and half-yao, finally descends to the human city with three objectives: discover who killed his father, remove the Black Jiao and associated yao tribes from Chang'an, and return the Heart Lamp to a Chen family descendant. On his initial night in the capital, the Heart Lamp becomes unintentionally absorbed by military commander Li Jinglong. A strange summons brings Kong into Chang'an’s Court of Exorcism, where he finds Li Jinglong assigned as his captain despite the general’s fall from grace. Joined by a fellow yao, a foreign noble, and a timid scholar, Kong must cooperate with this team to cleanse the city of hidden yao threats. At the same time he must conceal his yao heritage from Li Jinglong—who harbors deep antipathy toward yao—and attempt to retrieve the Heart Lamp now within the general.
