Synopsis

Sixteen-year-old Shinkurou Kurenai balances school life with nighttime work as a dispute mediator. Despite a gentle, patient nature and a traumatic past that pushed him into rigorous training, he combines unassuming looks with strong martial skills and an unusual supernatural ability. Employed by Benika Juuzawa, Shinkurou accepts diverse protection assignments; one places him as the bodyguard for Murasaki Kuhouin, a seven-year-old scion of a wealthy family who fled her household under odd circumstances with Benika’s assistance. Murasaki finds everyday life outside her privileged environment strange at first, but contact with neighbors softens her aloof manner and she begins to bond with Shinkurou. Though many aspects of the assignment remain mysterious, Shinkurou is determined to keep her safe—while he still lacks clear knowledge of the real threat aimed at Murasaki.
