Synopsis

Koutarou Takahashi, a dour reporter, is assigned to cover several whisky distilleries across Japan amid a growing interest in the spirit. Unfamiliar and unenthusiastic, he conducts only minimal research and reluctantly attends interviews. Rui Komada, the heir to the Komada distillery and the creator of the acclaimed Wakaba blend, steps into leadership after her father's sudden death and faces the threat of her family business collapsing. She makes a high-stakes decision to invest heavily in replacing pot stills lost to an earthquake so the distillery can resume producing raw whisky. To justify and benefit from that investment, Rui needs Koutarou to produce thoughtful, effective articles that will bring public attention and support to the distillery's revival.
