Synopsis

Kiyo Nozuki and Sumire Herai grew up together sharing the same goal: to become maikos, apprentice geishas. They enter a maiko house where their paths diverge—Sumire fits the role and begins formal training, while Kiyo is judged unsuitable and takes a position as the household’s resident cook. Though disappointed by her own setback, Kiyo maintains a cheerful outlook and devotes herself to preparing meals and offering encouragement, sustaining the household and supporting the others in their pursuits without resentment.
