Kino, a 15-year-old with a gentle manner, finds solace in constant travel. Journeying through varied countries, she delights in observing different ways people live and in the beauty of the world. Despite a modest appearance, Kino is capable and resolves threats with her two handguns, Cannon and Woodsman. Hermes, her sentient motorcycle and steadfast companion, accompanies her through times of loss and difficulty. Bound by a personal rule to depart each nation within three days, Kino and Hermes move onward, meeting new people, learning local customs, and testing their own principles. As they experience foreign cultures and moral complexities, Kino deepens her understanding of herself while confronting dangers that arise from the unknown.
