Synopsis

Humanity has long relied on the Toji, an exclusive lineage of sword-wielding priestesses, to combat the destructive Aratama, supernatural beings threatening existence. In the contemporary era, these protectors are integrated into a specialized law enforcement division tasked with eradicating the Aratama. The government also oversees several academies nationwide, dedicated to instructing young women in the martial art of swordsmanship, preparing them to join the Toji ranks and defend the world. Kanami Etou, a student from one such institution, Minoseki Academy, is chosen to participate in a prestigious martial arts competition. There, she encounters Hiyori Juujou, an enigmatic figure. As Kanami and Hiyori advance through the competition, their climactic duel takes an unforeseen direction, plunging the Toji's established order into disarray. With indications of internal treachery among the Toji, the two are compelled to escape the tournament grounds, finding themselves in conflict with former allies.
