Synopsis

The Mizuhanome System lets investigators access a person's inner landscape by reconstructing unconscious thought patterns from residual "cognition particles" found at crime scenes. Members of Kura, a specialized police unit, enter these virtual psychological realms called id wells to traverse distorted streams of thought and identify perpetrators. Entry into an id well requires having committed homicide, which places former detective Akihito Narihisago—operating under the alias Sakaido within the wells—on the opposite side of the law. Once a respected investigator, he now assists Kura from custody, applying his investigative talents to cases while confronting deeper, concealed connections that suggest a more troubling reality behind what appear to be isolated murders.
