Synopsis

Yu Wanyin finds herself thrust into the setting of a palace intrigue novel where the story's heroine has also been transported. To avoid the role of antagonist, Yu Wanyin forms an alliance with a ruthless ruler who, like her, is actually a contemporary person displaced into this past world. She hopes the three modern arrivals can abandon court rivalries and spend their time quietly together, but the heroine insists she alone is destined for greatness and opposes Yu Wanyin and the ruler, King Duan. Confronted with persistent opposition, Yu Wanyin undertakes a sequence of deliberate measures to survive in the palace and to assist the Xia dynasty in confronting an impending drought emergency, balancing personal survival against broader responsibilities to the realm.
