Synopsis

Hikaru receives a request to represent Japan in the Japan/China/Korea Junior Tournament, only to learn he must first compete in a preliminary event that will select three representatives. Speaking with Akira, Hikaru finds out Akira has already secured a place and will skip the preliminaries. In reaction, Hikaru refuses to visit Akira’s Go Salon until they are teammates. Securing a slot proves harder than expected: Hikaru must contend with longtime acquaintances for two available positions and confront a rising opponent from the Kansai Go Institute who threatens his chances.
