Synopsis

After a devastating worldwide nuclear conflict known as the Maelström reduced humanity, the World Health Organization assumed broad political control to safeguard survivors and reorganize society. People are treated as collective assets with guaranteed well-being, supported by advanced medicine, nanomachines, and augmented reality that prioritize health and surveillance. Opposed to this suffocating benevolence, Japanese teenager Miach Mihie rejects the system and, before a monitoring implant called WatchMe activates at adulthood, plans a joint suicide with friends Tuan Kirie and Cian Reikadou. Cian withdraws from the pact; Tuan survives but Miach is declared dead. Thirteen years later, Tuan now serves as a senior inspector for Helix, a WHO-affiliated body that oversees conflict zones. After her illicit activities in the Niger conflict are uncovered by inspector Oscar Stauffenberg, she is dispatched back to Japan. On the day of her return, a synchronized mass suicide unfolds across the country. Tuan must investigate the coordinated deaths and uncover the extremist group responsible for the unprecedented attack.
