Synopsis

Raised in a subterranean settlement sealed from the legendary surface, Simon is a reserved youth while Kamina acts as an impulsive, daring leader eager for renown. During excavation, Simon uncovers a strange device that activates a long-dormant weapon they name Lagann. With this newfound power, the pair repel an unexpected assault from above with assistance from Yoko Littner, a fiery red-haired marksman who travels the surface. After the clash exposes the open sky, Simon, Kamina, and Yoko depart the underground to traverse the desolate lands above. They confront the Beastmen—humanoid foes who dominate survivors using massive robotic Gunmen—joining other humans in armed resistance. Through battles, setbacks, and alliances, the group strives to recover the surface and gradually uncovers a vast, interstellar enigma.
