Synopsis

Karin, an eleven-year-old girl, is left by her father in the care of her grandfather, who serves as a monk in a small rural Japanese community. To watch over Karin, her grandfather entrusts the duty to Anzu, a cheerful yet temperamental spectral cat who acts as guardian and companion. The story follows the tensions and adjustments that arise when Karin’s determined personality meets Anzu’s playful but willful nature, as both learn to coexist under the quiet rhythms of the countryside and the grandfather’s steady presence.
