Synopsis

Youji Itami, a Japan Self-Defense Forces member and avid fan of otaku culture, is en route to a doujin event in Ginza when a massive, gate-shaped portal opens and creatures and armored warriors spill into Tokyo, causing widespread death and destruction. Acting quickly, Youji rescues as many civilians as possible while the JSDF organizes a response to halt the incursion. Three months later, Youji is assigned to command a special reconnaissance unit within a JSDF task force charged with entering the newly revealed realm, now called the Special Region. Their mission is to explore the foreign territory, gather intelligence, and pursue diplomatic contact with the region's ruling power in hopes of establishing peaceful relations. The team must navigate unfamiliar dangers and complex local politics, knowing that failure could trigger a full-scale war crossing the gate and devastating both worlds.
