Synopsis

As a child, Tsuwabaki Daiya encounters a mysterious black fire over the ocean while aboard a small boat with his father. A monstrous entity emerges from the blaze, swallowing his father and the other crew into the sea. Just as Daiya faces the same fate, a towering mechanical dragon intervenes and rescues him. Five years later, now a junior high student, Daiya encounters another monstrous attack and the dragon—Daiku Maryu—returns. The dragon’s head detaches and becomes the torso of a giant robot called Gaiking, which Daiya boards to repel the creature. Victorious, he learns of an organized force aiming for global domination and departs for the world of Darius to confront and halt their scheme.
