Synopsis

Earth faces an extraterrestrial threat when survivors from a world being devoured by a black hole begin an invasion led by Great Darius and his four commanders. After an ESP warrior falls to the attackers, Professor Hi-Tech constructs a colossal dragon-shaped space carrier called Daikuu Maryuu and an accompanying super robot, Gaiking. Pete pilots the dragon carrier while Sanshiro Shiwobuki, a former baseball player, takes the helm of Gaiking. The Daikuu Maryuu can deploy Gaiking’s components and later reunite with the robot’s neck and tail to form a single, resilient configuration. The narrative follows the crew aboard the semi-transformable carrier and their battles against the alien force from Zela as they struggle to protect Earth. The series is notable for situating its conflict in real-world locations beyond Japan and for featuring a mobile carrier as the launch platform for the principal robot.
