Synopsis

In the enclosed city of Romdo, one of humanity's remaining enclaves endures centuries after a global ecological collapse rendered the outside world uninhabitable. To aid human recovery, humanoid machines called AutoReivs serve daily needs, but a disturbing condition known as the Cogito Virus is causing some to gain consciousness. Re-l Mayer, granddaughter of Romdo's ruler, is tasked with probing this anomaly alongside her AutoReiv partner Iggy. What begins as an official inquiry rapidly deepens into a confrontation with hidden aspects of human behavior and systemic wrongdoing. Concurrently, Vincent Law, an AutoReiv specialist, encounters unsettling, surreal occurrences that force him to confront his own past. United by circumstance, Re-l, Iggy, Vincent, and a childlike AutoReiv named Pino form an uneasy alliance as they investigate the city's secrets and seek to understand the enigmatic entities referred to as Proxies.
