Synopsis

On November 22, 2010, missile strikes struck Japan in an incident later labeled "Careless Monday," a terrorist act that miraculously caused no casualties and was soon largely forgotten. Three months afterward, during her college graduation trip to the United States, Saki Morimi encounters Akira Takizawa, a cheerful yet peculiar young man who rescues her from danger. Takizawa is naked, afflicted by memory loss, convinced he is a terrorist, and carries an unusual mobile device loaded with 8.2 billion yen in electronic currency. Saki rapidly forms a bond with him, unaware that this meeting marks the start of a perilous contest centered on money, mobile phones, and the fate of the world. The story follows Saki as she seeks to uncover the truth about her rescuer while Akira confronts rivals equipped with comparable phones and experiences returning recollections that hint at his involvement in the earlier attacks.
