Men Ke, an ordinary office employee, has endured such profound boredom in the first part of her life that she doubts its purpose. As she approaches the latter half of her life, she confronts a surreal possibility: death brought on by perpetual ennui, even while routine obligations like going to work persist. Opposing this bleak trajectory is an eager outsider—an alien determined to intervene and restore meaning to her days. Their interactions explore the struggle to escape numbing repetition and the joint effort to rediscover contentment, balancing the woman's weary resignation with the alien's wholehearted but frequently ineffectual attempts to help.
