Synopsis

During an autumn broadcast at Nichiuri TV covering the Satsuki Cup, a bombing causes chaos and the building catches fire. Heiji and Kazuha are trapped inside until Conan arrives and saves them. The bomber’s identity and motives are unknown. Amid the turmoil, Conan encounters a striking young woman who introduces herself as Heiji’s fiancée: Momiji Ooka, Kyoto High’s Karuta champion. Kazuha is set to compete against Momiji in the Hyakunin Isshu tournament and begins training with Heiji’s mother, Shizuka, an experienced Karuta player. Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Arashiyama, the current Satsuki Cup titleholder is found murdered in a traditional house; photographs from the scene suggest Momiji was present, and several Karuta cards are scattered near the victim. Conan and Heiji, assisted by Osaka and Kyoto police, investigate links between the Satsuki Cup broadcast, the bombing, and the homicide. Their inquiry uncovers a concealed secret tied to the Hyakunin Isshu, deepening the case’s connections to the world of competitive Karuta.
