Synopsis

In a distant future, monstrous creatures called Gadoll emerge and endanger humanity. The remaining humans shelter in the Tank, a lower sector inside the massive mobile fortress Deca-Dence, while Gears inhabit upper levels and serve as frontline fighters in the Power. Most Tank inhabitants support the war effort from behind the lines—processing Gadoll meat and shoring up defenses—but Natsume longs to take part in combat despite having a prosthetic right arm. Her application to join the Power remains blocked even as her former orphanage peers receive assignments. Assigned instead to cleaning work for an armor maintenance crew, she falls under the supervision of Kaburagi, a stern, seemingly indifferent leader whose true nature is obscured. Though initially distant, Kaburagi comes to see Natsume’s resolve and potential to challenge the existing order. He becomes her mentor and readies her for an uncommon and pivotal role that could disrupt the system governing their world.
