Synopsis

Atsushi Nakajima, an eighteen-year-old from an orphanage where a mysterious tiger has caused repeated disturbances, finds himself expelled and forced to survive on the streets. While weak and hungry beside a river, he rescues Osamu Dazai, an unconventional investigator with a fascination for self-destruction, who has been probing the very tiger linked to the orphanage's trouble. Along with Dazai's pragmatic partner Doppo Kunikida, they uncover the truth behind the strange occurrences, but the outcome places Atsushi in a difficult position. As further peculiar incidents arise, Atsushi is pushed into becoming a member of their agency that handles paranormal and inexplicable matters beyond the police's scope, working cases with a cast of mysterious colleagues.
