Synopsis

In 1969 Japan, cheerful junior-high student Marin lives with a caring adoptive family until a strange aerial phenomenon appears worldwide. From that shimmering formation descend lethal androids called Monomakia that target Marin. Fleeing for safety, she finds a blue bottle at a shrine; when opened, it releases Melan Blue, an alien swordsman who also uses firearms and assumes the role of her defender. Together they confront the Monomakia threat while navigating family tensions, discrimination at school, and scrutiny from law enforcement. As they cooperate to protect the planet, Marin and Melan gradually uncover connections to Marin’s history and the reasons behind Melan’s mission, learning to rely on one another amid a vivid ensemble of allies and adversaries.
