Synopsis

This initial Bleach OVA, produced prior to the television debut and first shown at Jump Festa 2004 before a later DVD release, serves as an early version of events later seen in episodes 8–9. In it, Kurosaki Ichigo, acting as a temporary Shinigami on behalf of Kuchiki Rukia, identifies one of the Hollows he has been pursuing as responsible for his mother’s death. The episode centers on Ichigo’s confrontation with that Hollow, depicting a pride‑driven struggle motivated by revenge while maintaining the series’ tense, supernatural atmosphere.
