Synopsis

Aslan Jade Callenreese, called Ash Lynx, grew up as a street runaway in New York and was taken under the control of mafia boss Dino Golzine. At seventeen, Ash leads his own crew and becomes determined to uncover the meaning behind the enigmatic phrase "Banana Fish," which his older brother Griffin began repeating after returning from the Iraq War. Ash pursues this mystery while navigating the violent power dynamics that shaped him. During his inquiries he frequents an underground bar used as a refuge, where he meets Japanese photojournalists Shunichi Ibe and his assistant Eiji Okumura, who are documenting American street gangs. Their meeting is cut short when Shorter Wong alerts Ash that Dino has sent men after him; the mobsters attack the bar and abduct Skip and Eiji. Forced to rescue his friends and continue investigating Banana Fish, Ash must confront the constraints and dangers of his past association with the mafia as he seeks answers.
