An underground tournament is assembled by Mitsunari Tokugawa, who runs a clandestine fighting arena. He gathers thirty-eight elite combatants from around the globe, many recognized as grandmasters in distinct martial disciplines. The contest permits nearly any technique except the use of weapons, enabling participants to employ their fullest strength and guarded signature moves. Baki Hanma participates by virtue of his position as the current champion of Tokugawa's ring, entering the competition to defend his standing amid a field of the world's leading fighters.
