Synopsis

After winning a harsh underground fighting contest, Baki Hanma presses on toward his aim of overcoming his father, Yuujirou, acknowledged as the world's strongest. His respite is cut short when Tokugawa Mitsunari, the tournament organizer, arrives at his school with alarming news: five deadly inmates on death row from various countries have broken out at the same time. Each is a consummate martial artist who seeks to experience defeat firsthand. Tokugawa cautions that Baki's notoriety for strength makes him likely to cross paths with these escapees, and that others could be imperiled as well. The story, adapting the opening arc of the second manga series, follows the escalating clash between Japan's respected fighters and dangerous combatants from the criminal underground.
