Synopsis

Zheng Shaopeng, a high school pupil, nods off during a history class and finds himself inhabiting the body of Yang Lin, a poor scholar depicted in his textbook, transported to the Danzhu Dynasty. At first, Yang Lin faces difficulty acclimating to the period’s hardships, but by introducing practical, contemporary concepts and modest innovations he gains the trust and warmth of the local community and begins to form a sense of belonging. Amidst a backdrop of internal strife and external threats, Yang Lin witnesses warfare and widespread suffering. Leveraging his learning and skills, he secures a position within the court and becomes involved in efforts to root out corruption and strengthen the dynasty’s defenses against powerful foes, all while navigating the moral and emotional toll of the turbulent era.
