At the Ministry of Science, devoted researcher Professor Ochanomizu and his team work to bring Atom back to life—the first robot created with a humanlike heart. Atom was originally crafted by the mysterious Professor Umatarou Tenma as a replacement for his late son Tobio, but Tenma shut down his creation and vanished, leaving Ochanomizu determined not to let the breakthrough be lost. Though he looks like a nine-year-old, Atom combines extraordinary power and intellect with a deep moral sense and empathy comparable to humans. His emergence is met with mixed reactions: while robots are present in society, they are largely treated as instruments and viewed by many as a potential threat to human supremacy. Confronted by prejudice and mistrust, Atom commits himself to protecting both people and machines, seeking to foster sincere relationships and a future where both can thrive together.
